Good morning HMW crew,

What can I say, but I’m really glad you all enjoyed Haunt. It’s a fun and entertaining movie that gives you something different from typical haunted house offerings. It is perplexing to me how Jay can rate Cruel Summer an 8 and Haunt a 7. Cruel Summer isn’t entertaining and hardly has any redeeming qualities at all. It is a painful experience. Whereas Haunt is loads of fun and is highly entertaining. I have trouble reconciling this. It hurts my head.

Terminator Dark Fate was a bit of a disappointment. The technology used in the film made no sense whatsoever and of course the politics in the film was also atrocious. Set pieces were largely unremarkable using way too much CGI. Performances were fine and was probably the strongest component of the film, but the story was so convoluted, it just made for such an underwhelming experience overall. They should retire the Terminator franchise, unless someone wants to go back to non-liquid metal terminators, like the original and use practical effects. The stakes would be so much higher then. When you make the terminator so powerful, it just doesn’t work. The humans should have no chance to survive against it. I would love to see a scenario where the terminator gets damaged and is forced to retreat in order to keep his mission alive. Then you feel like the humans have a chance to beat it as well.

Lady Phantom’s pick this week is Tales Of Halloween. I think the film is streaming on Netflix. I love horror anthologies, so hopefully, it will be a good one. Creepshow has been a nice surprise on Shudder. They just announced season 2 is greenlit, so that is great news.

This week, we get the last of the highly anticipated horror movies of 2019 in Mike Flanagan’s adaptation of Stephen King’s Doctor Sleep. This should be awesome. I already have tickets for Thursday night. I cannot wait.

Have a great week!
Sean

Thanks for writing! I’m glad you liked Haunt. And I know… that hurts my head too.
Bummer to hear about Terminator. We will definitely watch it, but at least now I’m prepared, lol.
As for Tales of Halloween, it’s not on Netflix. Amazon prime and iTunes have it, though. You’ll hear all about it next Sunday!

Ahhh yes. Amazon Prime. I knew it was on one of the services. Thank you for that. I am a Prime member so I have access to it. We’ll look forward to this one next episode!

I also really enjoyed this movie, but one of the scenes that bothered me was the girl who had to use a mirror to read simple words written backwards. I thought was kinda dumb along with the shotgun stuff you discussed. With that said I can see myself watching this once a year and I rated it 8/10.

Oh my goodness yes!!! I completely forgot about that, but we were “what, you can’t read that???” Excellent point; thanks for reminding us!

So true @Fright Night Fetes I completely forgot to mention that on this episode! That was so so dumb the mirror scenes. It is a great movie to watch each year around Halloween it really fits the season!
