  1. This movie was definitely a mixed bag, but you kind of expect that with anthologies. I appreciated the many cameos in the film. The stories do vary in quality, but found most of them to be underwhelming. You all had nice things to say about the first story, and I also found it to be entertaining, but it does make a mockery of the prior evil trope and I realize that was probably intentional. It’s pretty difficult to do really good horror anthologies and that is evident by how few of them there actually are.

The stories themselves are too short. You can’t do a whole lot with such short run times. This really is cheap fast food meant for consumption without expecting anything fancy. If I am judging this based on it being a horror movie, then it’s weaker, but if I judge it against other horror anthologies, it fairs a bit better. The wraparound should have been better, but with so many short films, I also understand the need for restraint. I’d rate it a 6/10 and a rental recommendation.

Terrifier is an interesting pick. It debuted on Netflix in September. For some reason, I’m not looking forward to this. Doctor Sleep is a fairly amazing movie and it exceeded my expectations going in. The box office numbers are a little disappointing, but not surprising considering the IP. You should consider doing current in-the-theater movies occasionally for the podcast. I realize it can be difficult to get to the cinema, but the run of films this year has been a delight!

    1. Glad you enjoyed the episode. You give me hope for Doctor Sleep… I’m really not sure what to expect there. And yes, we will definitely review something that is in theaters. Eventually. Lol!
