  1. Congratulations and thank you!
I really wanted to warn you, I really did. I knew there was no stopping it. Nothing I could have said would have prevented this disaster. Black Christmas 2019 is one of the very worst movies of the year.

The media has been very kind to this dumpster fire, so it’s great to see the actual truth be told. Forget about the messaging, this is a terrible film from top to bottom. I’m embarrassed for Blumhouse for releasing this pathetic excuse, for even a PG13 horror movie. The film is filled with unlikable characters. Make no mistake, there should have been no survivors by the film’s conclusion. As soon as we see the whining student trying to get others to sign her petition, I was wanting to see her get killed off immediately. The same for the bi-racial girl/man. We needed to see his death. It’s too bad that doesn’t happen in the movie. In fact, the slasher frat boys were really ineffective as slasher killers. They had many of them dead to rights and couldn’t manage to get the job done.

Sophia Takal and April Wolfe really don’t like men and they want you to feel the same. After all, all men are rapists and you should always fight against them. The box office numbers tell the real story of this movie. Note to film makers: If you wag your finger at the audience, don’t complain when your film fails. Start by making an actual good movie first, then incorporate your message in a measured and nuanced manner. When you are so disrespectful to your audience, you deserve to lose any future opportunities to make films. Well done Takal!

Black Christmas 2019 is a 1/10 and avoid like your life depends on it. It’s still not my worst of the year incredibly. That honor goes to the Utah Cabin Murders. They don’t make films this bad, but they actually do. That’s the true scary story. Movies like these still get financed, produced and distributed.

I’m curious about the Taking of Deborah Logan and figured we would come back to this film, since it is now readily available. I really enjoyed this episode. It might be my favorite episode of the year.
Merry Christmas Phantom, BillChete and Jay of the Dead!

  2. Disagree with you Bill & you Lady Phantom as i think the 1st black Christmas remake was really good & the original a boring pos. Won’t bother with the new one for awhile if ever. Great episode again guys!

  3. Hey there!

Bill Chete, had no idea you were back in the podcasting game.

Yeah this movie was a wreck and pretty awful. If I made a worst of list, this would be on it!

  4. Hey all,

Just listened to the Black Christmas episode and just wanna say that the point of 2019 Black Christmas, is to be direct about racial issues and feminist issues seeing we do live in a world of Trump and Trump supporters and the movie is trying to hammer the point, that it’s unreal that we live in a America that would have a white supremacist/woman abuser as a president and ppl that voted for him, that certain schools still have statues of racist figures on their campuses. Still to this day I still hear about teachers either being racist towards students of colour or using their authority to molest female or male students and of course frats being the worst things ever. Also as males we don’t need “proper masculine” representation cause we already rule the world and think the film does fine job of representing good males. Bottom line the film just isn’t for you guys seeing that the reason the film was pg-13 was so girls who are going into high school could see it seeing the message of the film is important and true. The film is suspenseful and well paced Well acted and openly talks about things many films don’t with the right voices intended because it’s important.

this movie isn’t for you all, which is fine but you should take that into account.

Ps To Lady Phantom, I really like when you give your personal opinion from your cultural and female background as that insight gives an intelligence to this podcast that others don’t have.

    “Let the men talk!”
    – Bill Cete haha

    1. I see your point, Maurice. However:
      1) All you say it’s true, BUT, if they wanted to make this kind of movie, they should have called it something else, not Black Christmas. That name carries an expectation, and in this movie it was just used to convey a message.
      2) Again, it’s true. All those things and worse do exist. However, I really think it’s irresponsible to respond by making a movie in which pretty much all men end up being horrible, and deserve punishment. Feminism is NOT about this. Feminism is about respecting women and feminine stuff in general, so that women can be equal to men. Equal, not superior.
      3) You’re right, this movie was not for me, and that’s ok. However, everyone has the right to not like it and express our opinions. That’s also ok.

Thank you for your comment about me. It’s always healthy to have different points of view in every aspect. Thanks for your comments!
