I enjoyed your podcast of Annihilation. This movie was overlooked and underappreciated for bringing back a good science fiction / horror film. The cast was perfect for this film and Natalie Portman did an excellent job in bringing her character to life. Unlike most science fiction films, the cinematography didn’t go into a consistent dark environment. The only times it did were scenes where you expected things to go wrong or a reveal like the bear scene and the fungal scene in the pool. The ending is open-ended which I truly appreciate in films. The CGI in most of the creatures and the environment was beautiful as it reminded me of Avatar. The bear was one of the best sci-fi creatures I have seen and its adaptation added to the lore of it.

Overall, I think it does justify an 8.5 – 9 rating.
