Long and very cool discussion. Thank you everyone for everything!
Already 3 updates to my list!
Definitely 6th spot with a rating of 8 is HIS HOUSE.
In spot #8 is 1BR with a rating of 7.
Lastly a solid notable mention would probably rank it around 12th is Jay’s high rated pick of Sputnik, would throw down a 7 on that one too, extremely unique but does drag a lot, and later on CG is pretty fake but a solid movie!
Hopefully your fearless host will replace the sidebar list with the new year best movies!
Thanks for listening and tuning in!
Hey, just for your info, there were over 1,000 2020 horror releases, not 114! Thanks for the show!
There were actually over 1,000 2020 horror films released last year, not just 114! It was a great year for horror in my opinion even with the COVID postponements. Thanks for the show.
Same as Bill, I have an amendment. In number 4 I have His House, with an 8.5 rating. It’s one of the few movies that actually made me shudder with fear, and the acting is beyond impeccable. Sputnik garnered an 8, but not a place in my list, just a very honorable mention.
Thanks for the comments. I will get those lists updated (soon). But you two HAVE to explain something to me. I saw “His House.” Everyone was throwing down 10’s on that flick — calling it the best Horror movie of the year! I forgot to mention it as extremely overrated because I actually forgot all about it — that’s how little it impressed me! I have no idea what people love so much about that movie! Please explain it to me — for real. What am I missing? It was, like, a 4 out of 10 for me. Ho hum. Avoid. ha ha -J
Well, for one, the acting is remarkable. The ghosts were very scary, and the jump scares extremely well timed. Plus, the backstory is heartbreaking.
Well, I wasn’t expecting what we got at the end of this episode. I’m going to miss you two. Of course I will always listen to Movies in 4K and continue listening here to Jay and his mysterious new cohosts. I imagine someday I will also tire of all the crap you have to search through in the horror world to find anything good, but for now you podcasters do a lot of the searching for me which I appreciate. I enjoyed this episode and all your top tens. And I thought His House was pretty good, but I was getting drowsy near the end and wasn’t sure where “He” came from. Lol. Thanks to the triad of horror hosts for a great show! Also, Jay, would this triad be a case in which something good came from stalking? Lol!
Thank you! We’ll look forward to your comments on Mi4K. As for “He,” I think it was the protagonist. You know how he says “THIS IS MY HOUSE!”? The witch is just after him because of what he did.
Thanks for everything, Dr.!
I am going to drop my list here before I actually listen to yours so I won’t be swayed. Lady and Billchete I’m sure you will side eye a few of mine. Jay, you probably will not be surprised.
10. The Binding
9. Blood Quantum
8. Spirals
7. Greets & Hansel
6. The Lodge
5. The Call
4. The Platform
3. The Beach House
2. Starfish
1. His House
I know I know, you don’t think Starfish is horror, but I loved it so much that I had to include it.
Oops… starfish was 2019…. looks like I will have to watch all of your picks to fill that spot!
I only saw a few of yours… but yeah. His House is good.
This episode was an absolute blast. I swear BillChete always brings the heat with his year end lists. I can NEVER predict what he’ll have and what he won’t! Ha ha. I love it! Seems like I’ve got some films to check out, for sure.
I was so happy that Phantom had VFW on there. What a fun movie. It was my number 2 of the year. Solid list, Phantom! 🙂
Jay and I had 3 top 10 movies in common, which surprised me. I was sure The Dark and the Wicked wouldn’t even touch his top 10.
I don’t want to nitpick release dates here, but wasn’t Belzebuth a 2019 release? It was on Shudder in the US last year, for sure. Also, Gnaw… I swear to God that I rented that in 2018! I didn’t watch it through nefarious means. It was out. I promise! Ha ha. Oh, well. These things can be tricky. Must have been a limited release that I caught?
I’ll go ahead and post my top 10 here even though the Exploding Heads’s year end episode (on which I was a guest) just dropped today. I don’t care! LOL!
10. The Golden Glove
09. Ghost Killers vs. Bloody Mary
08. Monstrum
07. Don’t Listen
06. Alone
05. Anything For Jackson
04. Possessor
03. The Hunt
02. VFW
01. The Dark and the Wicked
It’s a much different list than any of yours, but I’ve been noticing that’s the case all across the board. I love that! Jay! You MUST get on Letterboxd. BillChete and Phantom are right. I mark my lists PRIVATE and go from there, sir. You’ll dig it. Makes the whole process of logging movies so much easier.
Lastly, I will miss the ever living hell out of what BillChete & Lady Phantom bring to this show. You are two of the most entertaining podcasters out there, and you will absolutely be missed. Movies In 4K is a badass show! I need to sign the guest book already! Sheesh! Much love, you two! You are the best.
Cheers,
Mister Watson
PS: I’ll always be a HMW listener! It’ll remain part of my Sunday podcast ritual in one form or another for the foreseeable future! 🙂
Awww, thanks, Mr. Watson! Glad you appreciate our lists, and what we were able to bring to this podcast. And yeah, go sign that guestbook already! Geez!!
Aww.. sad to see Lady Phantom and Billchete go, but thanks for all the great content every Sunday. I thoroughly enjoyed the discussions, the bickering, the arguments over subjective emotional experiences like what scares you… and the occasional agreements (Open 24 Hours! it made my list)

4. The Invisible Man
5. Come to Daddy

1. Amulet
2. M.O.M
3. Alone
4. Clownery
5. The Dark and the Wicked
These sounded appealing to me and hopefully I can squeeze them in.
Thanks again, Love you guys
Thank you, Anthony! Now you need to listen to us on our show.
BillChete watched so many good non-horror films this year he quit Horror! Haha. Either that, or 2020 was such a bad year for movies that it forced his adieu! Whichever reason, I wish you both well on Movies in 4K. Don’t worry though, Jay. I’m not going anywhere!
Thank you so much! I hope you listen to us as well as Jay. Happy New Year!
