  1. Hey Guys,
This is Jeff Williams, sometimes known as “Wired Wednesday” on the “socials” (including Letterbox’d). I’m a long time listener, going back to HMP, then Jay of the Dead’s New Horror Movies, then to Horror Movie Weekly, and I’m finally getting around to leaving a comment and sharing more with you. Well, I’ve been waiting forEVER for the Top 10 of 2022 from you, so how cool was it to see Jay and Mr. Watson did the Top movies from 2012! I think I’ll share my Top 10 from 2012 and save my 2022 list for JOTDNHM (is that a thing??). I’m sorry, takes too long to type Jay of the Dead’s New Horror Movies…if it’s not a thing, I’m making it a thing. 🙂

2012 was already a pretty good year for genre movies, but then I noticed that I had “The Innkeepers” and “Kill List” in my Top 10 movies of 2011, numbers 1 and 2 respectively. I checked and noticed that they were indeed released in the USA in 2012. Damn! Now I had to move them to 2012 with “Cabin in the Woods”, “Resolution”, “American Mary” and some other really good movies. Oh well, here you go:
#10. The Last Will and Testament of Rosalind Leigh
    #9. The Bay
    #8. Antiviral
    #7. American Mary
    #6. Sinister
#5. The Pact ( I LOVE this little movie!!! It works! If you haven’t seen it, seek it out and watch it!)
#4. The Cabin in The Woods
    #3. Resolution
And for numbers one and two, I kept going back and forth between these two for the top spot, but I finally went back to my original number one movie for 2011 (when I thought that it was released in 2011)
    #2. Kill List
    #1. The Innkeepers
I loved the way that Kill list went from a Tarentino-esque type of buddy-bad-guy-movie (ala “pulp Fiction”), to something out of Gareth Evans’ 2018 film “The Apostle” or Robin Hardy’s “The Wicker Man”. I had a hard time not making it my number one film, but there is just something about Ti West’s “The Innkeepers” (my favorite Ti West film by the way) that I just love! The sense of fun innocence throughout most of the film, as our two main characters’ search for ghosts in a supposedly haunted hotel that they both have worked in for quite a long time, slowly gives way to something much more real and terrible. I just love that movie!
Well that’s my Top 10 for 2012. I believe that 2012 was a harbinger year of truly great horror that we started getting in the mid twenty-teens, which I believe rivals ANY period for some of the greatest horror ever made, both in the U.S. and especially outside of the U.S.
    Keep up the great work!
