I saw Krampus in the theater and liked it then. It has grown in stature since and is a Christmas tradition every season to see this movie. I think Hereditary ruined this movie for Jason. Toni Collette’s tortured performance echos. Krampus does indeed capture a tone for the holiday and it has great practical effects and solid performances and a fun story. I think the film accomplishes all that it sets out to do.
This is everything I want from a holiday horror movie more or less. I originally rated this movie a 7.5/10 and a buy and I think I’ll stay with that rating. I was really excited to see Black Christmas and was so hoping that Blumhouse could end the year with a good one. I’ll wait to comment on it for the episode.
I watched the Soska Sisters’ Rabid and Peter Strickland’s In Fabric after Black Christmas and was very glad those films were available.
Jason, please share my best of 2019 horror lists with Bill and The Phantom. I would like for them to be able to check it out and don’t want to post it to the blog. I sent to the consideringthecinema email.
Thanks so much and looking forward to the Christmas episode!
So glad you liked Krampus! It’s definitely a Christmas must watch. I love Toni Collette in anything, so.
Looking forward to checking out your list!
I’d love to hear your thoughts based on your own 2019 theatrical horror movie watching experience Phantom!
So the 1st 9 minutes had nothing to do with the movie you talked about which is fine for this episode cuz krapus sucks but for such a short podcast you don’t normally wanna do that just saying but onto my review…Kraponus is horrible! A long boring movie with lame ass characters who only bitch n moan & make dumb choices plus the ending is horrible so i give it for the visuals alone a 2/10 score. This is only the second time I’ve totally been let down by my horror spirit animal bill chete the 1st not liking poltergeist & now for liking this horrible movie. Still love you though bill! Lady phantom great choice choosing the new black christmas for which I’m sure bill will be back on track with me again. Thanks again for coming together to give us another great horror podcasts! Happy holidays!
Well Tony, to each his own. As you heard, I really like Krampus, so let’s agree to disagree.
Let’s now see what you think of our discussion of Black Christmas… dun dun duuuuun…
Yep different views but it’s all love!
Lol Tony!
Too each it’s own. I felt the same way first watch but the more I watched it the more I totally loved it for the Christmas spirit!
