Ultimately, you have three unlikable characters getting what they deserve here. This is an enjoyable romp. The writing and performances were the film’s strong points. Harpoon was an honorable mention this past year for me at a 6.5/10 and a strong rental recommendation, so we’re all similar on this movie.
Harpoon has it’s US blu ray release through Dread Central’s Epic Pictures. It is also being released through Arrow Films in the UK on blu ray. Both editions should be available in the first quarter of 2020.

There is no hiding my appreciation for Andy Muschietti’s IT movies. IT was my favorite of 2017 at 9.5/10. This past year, IT Chapter 2 was my number five at 8.5/10. He is rumored to release a supercut of both movies together with additional footage and new footage exclusive to the supercut. It would be more than six hours total run time.

The Grudge 2020 is original enough in it’s approach, but it’s light on scares unfortunately, making for a very average experience. Nicolas Pesce gave us Piercing the year before and that was also very pedestrian and that trend doesn’t change with his turn at The Grudge. It’s just okay. Not horrible, not great. I’d wait to stream it for free.
Underwater, The Turning and Gretel & Hansel line up the horror wides for January. All of these are PG13 movies. Of them, only Oz Perkins’ Gretel & Hansel could be worth making that trip to the theater. He directed 2015’s The Blackcoat’s Daughter. Otherwise, I know you mentioned you are looking forward to Fantasy Island next month. I’m a bit gun shy after Black Christmas. Blumhouse has been a disappointment, so hopefully they can rebound.

Great episode everyone and a great way to start the year! Next week, Pennywise….

Oooohhh… I can’t wait to hear your tales on our opinions…
I am looking forward to Fantasy Island, though. The idea is very intriguing, but you’re right. We’ll see. As to The Grudge, who knows. Its trailer was ok, especially the red band one, but we’ve heard tons of bad things. Again, we’ll see.

Uh Oh Sean, I think you will be displeased by all 3 of us on the upcoming episode of IT Chapter 2. Lol.

And indeed Harpoon was a fun romp that we mostly agreed on, only the second episode out of 19, he he, the other being Haunt, both my picks, lol, get the hint (wink wink).

Thanks again for being a faithful listener and commenter!

Thank you Bill, and I’m actually expecting this. Jay has said he doesn’t like IT. It doesn’t seem like your type of horror movie and Phantom has already stated that she wasn’t impressed with the first one, so I wouldn’t expect that she’d like the second one any better.

I’m looking forward to hearing your takes on the film even more now!
