  1. Great episode everyone. I really enjoyed this movie and I am excited to see the sequel. I am shocked that BillChete can like Sweatshop so much but somehow give this movie a 4. SMH
Damien Leone and David Howard Thorton are going to be a con near me and I cant wait to meet them.

  2. Terrifier was the first time I saw Art the Clown so I couldn’t compare to The short/All Hallows Eve. I was in awe by how creepy and how strong his presence was. I then watched All Hallows’ Eve and loved it too. 10/10 and BMOTY of 2018. Also on my Top 10 favorite movie list. I also loved rewatching it and look forward to seeing it again. Looking forward to Terrifier 2 as well and easily my most anticipated movie of 2020.
Jay, I am glad you enjoyed it. I was a bit surprised you liked it as much as you did.
Bill, I had a feeling you wouldn’t enjoy this after hearing your views on Hatchet. But a 4?
Love listening to all 3 of you, very entertaining and insightful. I look forward to all the podcasts to come!

  3. Sorry Lady Phantom and Bill Chete, but Terrifier is a cheap underground slasher dream set up like a cartoon with creative kills and biting enough suspense. Terrifier is a 10/10. Art the clown is classic and Jay, Terrifier is a great title. Big ups brother.

    1. That’s the beauty of movies; there’s something for everyone. I enjoyed the movie, but I just can’t go that high.
Thanks for listening and leaving us a comment!

  4. Another great episode! Very funny & the banter is always so much fun! Definitely some surprises on this episode like my horror spirit animal bill chete giving it a 4/10 score. I see both of jay & bills points about art the clown being the next great horror icon & why he shouldn’t or won’t be. Again great episode & can’t wait for the next one!

  5. When you first launched this podcast, I predicted that I would mostly agree with Jay of the Dead based on prior experience. In the past, I found that I disagreed with Billchete often in the films he reviewed. However, we are a dozen episodes in and I find that I agree with Bill most of the time here. Jay, you are really disappointing me with your takes in 2019.

First, Art the clown as a horror icon?? No way this happens. He is far too weak of a character to lead a franchise. When a killer wears a mask, he doesn’t have to say anything and it works because you can’t see his face and mouth. When you can see the killer’s face and mouth, even with clown make-up on, and he is mute, it doesn’t work at all. Yes, he can emote with his facial expressions, but again, when you can see his face and he says nothing, it’s not effective.

Also, the story or lack thereof is a huge problem. Whoever Art ran into that night was going to get attacked. So the characters he does run into all become victims. The movie simply serves as a visual document of his killing spree that evening. The characters make such typical dumb choices that you feel nothing for them (not that there is any character development to speak of), and you want them to get killed off quicker to end the frustration. How many times did they manage to take Art down with one blow, only to run off and allow him to recover?? If you have the killer down, you finish the job, period.

This is a pointless exercise when there are no survivors and a colossal waste of time. Are we really supposed to believe that Art survives the gunshot to the head?? The gore effects were okay, but not a sole reason to recommend watching this atrocity. I really do not like this movie at all. For me it has little to no redemptive qualities. It’s a 3/10 and an avoid at all costs. Save your time and money and do not watch this.

Next week’s pick for Brightburn will be much better without a doubt, as I have seen it and enjoyed it.

    1. Thanks for your comments, Sean! I obviously liked the movie more than you, but I think it’s overrated. I just don’t see this clown doing more than he has already… he is creepy, especially to people who don’t like clowns (like me), but he is no icon in my book. I did enjoy the movie, but I definitely don’t want lots of sequels, and I don’t think there will be lots of them anyways.

      1. Yes, LP, I also find clowns to be creepy most of the time. I was never a circus fan. Art’s signature is his cruelty. I didn’t mention this, but when the one girl fights back and manages to get a few blows in and he is desperate enough to reach for his pistol, this is another major fault of the movie. It is a slasher and no self-respecting slasher killer would use a gun. The fact that he is that desperate, means he is not the killer that a Michael Myers or Jason Voorhees is. These horror icons would laugh and make fun of Art for using the pistol for sure. Poor choice by the director.

        1. I KNOW!!! I hated him going for the gun. I mean, the same guy that apparently takes the time to cut off some woman’s breasts and wear them, just shoot the girl who has made a fool of him? Come on. And him living after that gunshot… it made me angry.

  6. There you go Sean, see I am often misunderstood, he he. Every point you make about Terrifier is completely valid. It has ZERO story and is only a movie to focus on blatant body mutilation.

I am stunned at the love this movie has garnered as most of these same people criticize other movies for having stupid stories and bad acting and let this movie slip through the cracks.

The only thing I am grateful for is that this low budget monstrosity gets fans venturing into more budget ridden indies as there are many gems out there in this category.

Thanks all for commenting and listening to us whether you agree or not I’m tickled you are enjoying the podcast!

  7. Absolutely correct Bill. Especially with studios like A24 and IFC, who are putting out great small-budget independent horror movies on a consistent basis. Many of these films are fantastic. Yes, I love the podcast and you are all doing great work here.

You guys already know this, but you have the best host in all of podcasting. I don’t think Jason has ever hosted a weak podcast. I listen to many podcasts, even some high profile ones who have been on camera, on major networks and none of them are even close to Jay’s level. So yes, this show’s three personalities make for one the best podcasts out there!

  8. Long long long time fan and follower

Have been around since ‘Planet Macabre’ days as well as ‘Considering the Cinema’. Al the way through Horror Jungle and Horror Movie Podcast Weekly (loved the battling with Terror Tovey). Its like the Beatles reforming having this dream team back together. I normally dont get a chance to watch many as horror movies as I like but you peeked my interest in this one and really enjoyed it. Thanks for all your hard work. So happy that all three of you are back in the game. Will be great to get your top ten lists this year if you are doing one. Also would be great to get some gest appearance as blasts from the best. Wolfman Josh, Doc Shock, Criifix, Chris Excess and Terror Tovey to name a few.

    1. Thank you so much for this comment; I really appreciate that you hold us in high esteem. I’m also very happy we’re doing this; it’s a lot of fun. Keep listening and telling us what you think!

  9. Awesome gerdywerdy glad you found us!

You brought back a lot of memories with all the podcasts and hosts names from the bygone era, lol!

  10. This is the first time I’ve left a comment on here but I’m really enjoying the show! I’m not much of a critic so I’ll probably not comment a whole lot. I’m a fan of horror but Terrifier was too much for me. There was one scene in particular that I kept saying to myself “surely they’re not going to go there”. Much to my surprise they went there!! I give them props though for where they went. I thought the actor that played Art The Clown was fantastic and the scene in the pizza place was my favorite part. Art The Clown is definitely the scariest and disturbing clown I’ve seen in a movie. Keep up the good work everyone! Thanks for all you do!!

    1. Hello, Andrew! Thank you for your feedback. I’m glad you like our podcast. And just for the record, you don’t need to be a critic to comment here. We just want our listeners to enjoy the show and engage with us if they so choose. Any time you want to tell us something, feel free to post your thoughts. Thanks for listening!
