  1. Guys, check out, ‘Host’ (2020).
New genre–Lockdown/Quarantine horror, Zoom footage horror

Maybe best watched in a dark room on your laptop with your headphones on.

    1. We did, Nick. Very good special effects, but that’s pretty much it. The whole concept of a zoom seiance turns me off.

    2. I liked Host too! It had a short run time but really packed in the scares. It was also the first piece of media that I have seen so far that lives in our time. I loved seeing modern culture creeping in with the Zoom Meeting aspect, mask wearing, and heckling of coughers and such. I didn’t know what Zoom was a few months ago, and look at the world now! I thought this was pretty clever.

      1. We’ll have to wait for the upcoming episode for ‘Host’ from these guys, Libby, but I’m right in line with your positive thinking! This is a great example of contemporary horror, putting the current reality right in our face!

  2. When I started Hell Fire, I was a little apprehensive at the look of it right off the bat… I was like, Bill, what have you gotten me into, buddy?? I’m not sure if I even made it through the opening sequence before deciding he had lost all clout, and was kind of excited for you all to hate on this movie in your review! Then as my confusion mounted I decided to check my notes, and realized that I had found, and was watching, the wrong movie entirely! It was funny to me since you were talking about confusion with the titles Hell Fest, and Blood Fest. Soooooo, full clout restored! Ha. And silly me.
Hell Fest, by contrast, was a fun ride right from the start! I wish I could have gone to a place like that when I was a teenager- Minus the murder, of course! I enjoyed the pacing of this movie, and liked the cool lighting throughout. A lot of horror movies rely on such dark sets and scenes, and maybe a little vagary, to accomplish scares where I thought this one had the more unusual benefit of colorful stage lighting for their “in-house” scenes. So you ended up with this colorfully lit little terror fest (probably the title of another horror movie!). This serial killer found the perfect place to do his bidding, hiding in plain sight, and with one of the scariest masks in recent mask making movie times! I totally enjoyed this one, also missing it completely when it came out. so thank you for your pick, and review.
