  1. As a photographer and former film lab employee I really enjoyed this movie! I think my love for it could most definitely be colored by my own experience. I agree some of the acting is just bad, but it wasn’t bad enough to take me out of the movie I guess.
I also lived in Arizona from 2009-2012. I do want to address the characters comments about building walls. Maybe everyone isn’t aware but some walls were in place for years – long before the recent controversy – hearing characters discuss it this way rings true. This was constantly on the news when I lived in Phoenix, which is pretty much when this movie is supposed to take place.
You would hear comments exactly like what you heard in the movie about comparing the Mexican border with the Canadian one. They were definitely extreme views from some characters depicted in this film but it is something you would see/hear. Not a view I agree with at all, just pointing out that it would be accurate.
I love the podcast! Thanks for all you do!

    1. Karen! Thanks so much for this comment! I lived just outside of Phoenix when I was a little, little kid, but my memories of that time are faded. I’m curious to know what you favorite thing is to photograph? I’m something of a nature photography hobbyist, although, I admit… it’s been a long time since I’ve gone out for a good hike! Thank you again for your insight! Don’t be a stranger!

  2. Thanks, guys, for bringing ‘Savageland’ to my attention! I’m a fan of “found footage” movies. One recently-watched favorite is ‘Lake Mungo’ (2008 – Australian). There were a few years there where Australia was coming on strong with horror projects. Culturally, I think Australia has a deep well from which to draw for inspirational seeds that scriptwriters/filmmakers can “horror-ize.”

Can’t wait for the Rabid episode next week! It’s rare that I’m a fan of an original AND a remake. This is one of those cases.

In any case, I “appreciate your choices.” I’ll check ‘Savageland’ out and let you know what I think!

    Best,
    V

    1. Aw, man… I can’t wait to hear your thoughts about Savageland. We were all across the board on this one… regarding our respective scores… but I love it when that happens! Ha ha.
