Horror Movie Weekly Ep. 098: Tumbbad 2019

HAPPY HALLOWEEN MONTH! Wow! It has been a while! Thankfully, Mister Watson and Channy Dreadful got the defibrillator paddles — and drawing upon the lightning of October — they have revived Jay of the Dead, so Horror Movie Weekly can rise again from the ashes like a phoenix! “IT’S ALIVE!” Thanks for your patience, everybody. You *will* be rewarded for sticking with us. The next eight episodes are already recorded and “in the can,” and they’re good ones — with surprises ahead!

But here in the long-awaited, highly anticipated Episode 098 of , your late-night Horror host Jay of the Dead returns with Mister Watson to bring you a Feature Review of a very special sort of Horror film from India called Tumbbad (2019)! (Another great pick by Mister Watson…) The only bummer about this particular episode is that our beloved Channy Dreadful wasn’t able to record this one with us. But she returns next time for Episode 099 (and thankfully, her return compensates for Jay’s ill-conceived movie pick)… We also bring you our Micro Horror Movie Reviews of “Fear Street: Part One – 1994” (2021). Join us!

Want Some Extra Halloween Listening?
Be sure to stick around for the end of this episode (or, at the very least, check the links below) because Jay of the Dead can help to supplement your October listening with multiple guest appearances on several other great Horror shows! Those episodes are all posted now, so be sure to give them a listen! Again, they will be listed at the end of this recording and linked in the section below! And remember, you’re always welcome to call and leave us a voicemail at (801) 215-9704. Join us!

Note: This episode was recorded on July 19, 2021, and released on October 10, 2021. Timely!

This weekly Horror movie podcast will resume bringing you one recent Horror movie review every Sunday. (We’re defining “recent” as any Horror movie released within the last five years, so now that it’s 2021, we’ll be covering Horror films from 2016 to the present.) And we always reveal next week’s pick at the end of every show, so you can watch along with us and be prepared for the following episode. Join us, and thanks for listening!

  1. Totally agree with your thoughts on Fear Street 1994. And those paintings by Red Cap Jack are awesome!

  2. Guys!
    I learned a new horror genre classification today! It’s called ‘Folk Horror’!
    Tumbbad = Folk Horror

    I got my nephews a storybook about Baba Yaga = Folk Horror
