5 thoughts on “Ep. 111: Coming Home in the Dark (2021)”

  1. Great episode! Coming Home In The Dark was on my honorable mention list last year. The director did a wonderful job at conveying tension, dread and unease juxtaposed excellently over a backdrop of beautiful landscapes. Great performances all around. 8 out of 10.

  2. I think I fall in between Suzie and Watson on My Heart Can’t Beat Unless You Tell it To. It was something people made out to be top 5 material and was sad I missed it initially. After watching I just don’t get all the love and feel like it’s a fine, middle of the road film.

As for Coming Home in the Dark I didn’t expect Jay to be so critical of it, but I come in around a 7.5 or 8. Liked it a lot. I would say it’s slightly below something like Killing Ground or Alone (2020) for me as far as survival horror goes.

Next episode is going to be fun. Can’t wait for the crew to talk about hunky boys. Jay is going to suffer here haha.

Keep up the good work! Look forward to this show everytime I see the notification pop up!

    1. You’d be surprised who suffers the most in next week’s episode. Definitely a fun one for sure.

Which movie affected you more- Coming Home or Killing Ground? I think the helpless toddler in Killing Ground was a worse victim. Have you seen Lake Eden? That’s one of my top 5 survival horror.

      Thanks for listening!

      1. Can’t wait to hear it!

I agree with you on Killing Ground. For me the most distressing scene in Coming Home in the Dark is shocking, but is quick and doesn’t linger too much. The toddler stuff almost breaks me being as I have a toddler now. I have seen Lake Eden and it’s a good one for sure. Survival horror isn’t one of my favorites, but I do enjoy a lot of them. Have you watched Alone from 2020? I know Watsons a fan of that one too.

  3. Hey! ‘I am the Pretty Thing that Lives in the House’ is an absolutely superior spooky ghost movie! I feel so so sorry for the poor ‘Projectile Varmit’ who has to suffer these two intolerable horror philistines. What the heck is wrong with these guys? (kidding)!

So, Jay & Watson, there’s no appreciation of the suspense, spookiness, atmosphere? No appreciation of this great horror film? These are the traits of the greatest horror films, I think. It is not the super hard violence, super hard gore, that makes the horror movies scary. There are other qualities that make the horror much much scarier for all of us!
    Love you Guys very much,
    Kaiju Nick
